Full Recap:

Today’s very special Wannabe Wednesday podcast is all about goal setting strategies. Well, not all about goal setting strategies. First Dan talks about his birthday which is today! Everyday we should be celebrating ourselves, but today Dan is going to take it a little further. Instead of asking for gifts, Dan is asking anyone who is interested to please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. You can find out everything you want to know about them here: https://www.stjude.org/

When it comes to achieving your goals, knowing exactly what they are is a key ingredient. Today we are going to cover some steps you can take to write out and start working towards them. First of all, write them out. Don’t just think about them. Physically write them down and be specific and detailed. Imagine you are ordering a custom car and the order must be precise. Your goals should be precise too.

Secondly, think about the things that are important to you. Start with these four categories: Income, Family, Health, and Net Worth. A good exercise is to quickly (in less than 30 seconds) write down your three most important goals in life right now. It can provide good insight into what is truly important to you. When writing out your goals it is important to set deadlines. It helps eliminate procrastination. When the goal is large enough make sure you are setting sub-deadlines that will help you work towards the larger goal.

Lastly, identify obstacles that may get in the way of achieving your goals. It could be anything from time constraints, to money, to your outside environment. Identifying them and then making a plan to overcome them before they even arise will pay off down the road. One obstacle may be a skill or trait that you need to work on improving. Whether it be through reading, networking, or simply practice, identifying even just one particular skill that you could improve may be the key to achieving your goal.

Don’t just wish for good things to happen. Put a plan in place and start to execute it. Today.
